What Is A Bread Basket Warmer?

A bread basket allows you to serve warm bread either by the help of a heated stone or an insulated pillow. All versions are usually microwaveable. It is specially designed insulation to keep the bread warm for an hour. Ceramic made versions include lids and are great for tortillas. They are oven safe too.

Some baskets feature terra cotta warming stones. For these types, you need to heat the warming stone in the oven or microwave before use. Then you take it out carefully with a tong or mitts. Wrap it inside the liner cloth that comes with the basket and you are all set. This is the most used version for keeping bread warm. You can rinse the terra cotta stone with water to clean after it cools down.

Regardless of the warming technique, they all serve the same purpose; keeping your bread warm. Most have fancy looks since they are made for serving bread.

How Do You Keep Bread Warm in A Basket?

You put your bread in the warmer basket and this smart it does the rest. Bread warmers use different technologies for keeping the bread hot. Some are specifically produced from special insulated material and some have warming stones underneath. Some people hack their way out and even warm beans or rice in the microwave to make their cheap versions at home. They lay the hot beans or rice at the bottom of regular baskets. However, this method cannot keep the buns warm adequately all through your meal. It is better to get a suitable bread basket warmer instead of trying to reinvent the wheel.

Can You Keep the Bread Crusty in A Bread Warmer?

It depends on the type of the bread warmer you are using. Some of them have lids which will often make the crust soft in a very short amount of time due to humidity.  If your bread is fresh then it will remain crusty for longer in an open warmer. Keep the cloth open when you place the crusty bread in the warmer. This way it will get warmed only from the bottom and the top will remain crispier. Also, stale bread can be freshened up if you drizzle cold water over it and reheat in the oven at 180°F until it gets crusty again. Then you can keep it warm in the basket as other breads.

In Conclusion

Bread basket warmer is perfect for serving hot buns, biscuits, chips or tortillas. If you like your bread hot from the oven then you will love these useful baskets. They keep your bread warm and fresh for at least an hour. You can either wash the clothing in the washing machine or put the ceramic version in the dishwasher. They are all very attractive and well designed. Bread basket warmer is a great and simple way to give the fresh out of oven appeal to your buns.
